Hej.

For mycket ko, for mycket tid o.s.v.

Moe? Geeft niets hoor, jonkie, gewoon je tijdklok. Beetje last van Pfeiffer?

Ar jag kar i NY an da?

Hello. I started out yesterday at 8am Germany time (1am Central Time.) I went to the Smelsers, we had breakfast at 9 til 9:45. I went back to the Duckeck's, and waited til the Smelsers and the Knapps came and picked me up. Then, we got on the road about 10:20. We got to Hannover's airport at 11:30, and checked in, and waited til 12, and got loaded at 12:30, then lifted off between then and 12:45. Then we got to Paris about an hour later, and only had about 1.75 hours to find our next terminal. We luckily only had to take 1 hour of that, and then went through their security, and got to the gate while it was loading. Then we lifted off about 4pm, and after a 10.5 hour flight or something, we got to Houston about 7:30pm (Central time.) Going through Customs, that was fun. I accidentally followed the guy that sat next to me in the flight into his line, and then I realized it was the visitors line. And I saw the American line was much longer, but I got it in anyway. And about 9pm, we took off for Dallas. It was only a short flight (I doubt we got past 20,000ft), and we arrived shortly after 10pm. Then we got picked up by a lady from LST, And at 12:30am, I finally was able to fall asleep. (Note: This would be about 23.5 hours of staying awake, with only about 30 minutes of napping.)

And just a while ago, I woke up. Fully awake, nonetheless! I noticed, however, it was dark in the room, with no light shining under the curtains. So I glance at the clock, and it says: 5:18. Yay JETLAG!

Count me out for for August as I expect to be away then! Just working on the fine details. I'm lucky as Catherine Tutton is coming up to Northumberland to lead a cancer retreat on Caring for the Soul - it's this weekend and I am going, then off to Greece a few hours later with my family for our island holiday.

Provence was great, very interesting but hot - however we (my sister and I ) didn't see sunflowers and lavender as promised...and they were on my bucket list.

It's lovely having all the family around although the two from Oz are still recovering from jetlag. I seem to live in the kitchen when the family are about as I have this outdated urge to feed them!

The weather is lovely here so i am off for a walk with them and my dog. I'll be thinking of you all this weekend especially when I'm with Catherine.

At night I can't sleep,

I toss and turn

- The Notorious B.I.G., "I'm Wit Whateva"

All right, all right. So the lyrics above have nothing to do with what I'm about to write about right now. (The lines following it up are "Got my hand on my pistol, when will these motherfuckers learn"), but I'm jet lagged the fuck out, yo. No amount of pot, hash, and / or masturbation can cure this shit. I should know, I did all three today, and I'm not proud of one of those things. What the fuck?

Still, though, it's not like I'm missing anything by not waking up in the morning. Kuwait is a big sand dune right now. The mornings are unbearable because the weather is so fucking shitty. Plus, there really isn't anything to do in the form of entertainment, and the fucking plug to my hard drive doesn't fit in the wall socket or the extension cord. Basically, all the TV shows and movies that were supposed to get me through the month, I can't watch, and I'm almost done with Soon I Will Be Invincible. So, basically, I'm fucked. (That is, of course, providing that the last "volume" of The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay is as boring as the last one. However, I doubt that.)

What am I rambling on about again?

Oh, I know.

Damn, I miss Miami.

My niece is traveling to Israel this week, and her mother asked me to make suggestions about how to

My niece is traveling to Israel this week, and her mother asked me to make suggestions about how to avoid jet lag. She knows that I have traveled above 4 1/2 million miles in my years. (If you divide 4,500,000 by 300 you'll get the number of hours I have spent in airline seats.)

So I sat down to write a few lines on what to do to cope with it; I doubt there is any way to avoid it. A little later, I discovered that I had written a lot of stuff, and my wife Shirah suggested I post it here as others might find what I had written useful. Here is what I said:

There are several dimensions:

Mental/emotional:

· On the one hand, don’t make a big thing about it. A certain amount of reaction is unavoidable. Everyone has different reactions.

When you are flying in to the new location, keep the window coverings down while it is going to be night in the new location, even if it is light outside at the time, and then when the time of the new location’s dawn arrives, open the window and put your face into the bright sunlight for 10-15 minutes.

This photo is a good representation of how Leslie and I feel in these first several days in Bali. We're up at 3-4am, are wide awake, and end up sitting in our room (reading, writing, on the computer) until we can work out, or until breakfast starts. We watch frogs hopping across the deck, and into the pool. The stars shining like someone poked holes in black construction paper and shined a flashlight from the other side.

And always, the sound of the river keeping us company.

Originally posted from K.Pho's Livejournal.

"This is the beginning of something really big. But right now, I gotta go."

K.Pho: I'm I really quoting Garden State?
LJ (Livejournal): Yea, you are.
K.Pho: Shit son.
LJ:... yea you're pretty much a Loser now.

I leave in about 3 1/2 hours, and not by any means has it fully hit me that I'm not going to be in Chelmsford this time tomorrow. Let alone Chelmsford, I won't even be on the same continent. This is intense.

I haven't really updated on much lately, but lets say I've been so busy working and enjoying recent developments in my life that leaving for London right now just hasn't really seemed like anything big. I think going to London is the beginning of something really big, but as of my life in Chelmsford, there have been some new beginnings that have great promise. I've decided that I'll just look at it as something really great to look forward too. I know I'll have a great time in London, and it's not like anything is leaving for good before I come back.

The last couple weeks have been a blur, and I can't believe after months of waiting to leave, I feel like I'm not ready. I was more excited to leave for London while I was still at school, but now that the time has come it's not exactly the first thing on my mind. Don't get me wrong, I can't wait to leave and to be honest, I guess it is actually starting to sink in that I am leaving. It's going to be exciting and something new. There are just somethings in the States that I'm not sad about leaving, and that I'm really going to miss.

This is the beginning of something really big this summer, but for the most part I feel like there is an overall beginning to a lot of more big things to come in my life.

I already feel wicked tired, and I think that might be a good thing so it'll be easier to sleep on the plane ride there. I'm just worried about getting hit with jetlag. I'm usually a fighter when it comes to lack of sleep and such, so hopefully I'll be okay. Supposedly, if you drink a lot of water it will help with the jetlag, so I'm starting to chug down the H2O, like whoa. Let's hope for the best.
I finished packing all my stuff, and I'm not going to lie, I hit it close when it comes to the weight constraints on my baggage. I guess worst comes to worst I'll just chuck all the stuff I don't need to bring back with me from London so I can hopefully bring back all the neat British things.

I suppose posting some goals for this trip would be a "positive" thing to do, and will make the overall experience more promising.

- Meet new people (hopefully some hott Brits :-p)
- Gain a more "worldly perspective"
- Learn some cool shiznit about Graphic Design and Media, and revive the reason why I'm majoring in it.
- See the major sites.
- Try new things, duh.
- Challenge myself to see if I can be independent in a different country.
- Exploring more of Europe.
- Have fun.
- Not die.
- O.M.G.'s get like wicked crunked and hook up with random guys, like whoa. (Just kidddddiiiing)

It's a pretty generic list, but I'm sure I'll add onto it, and hopefully gain a lot more then that.

So I hope everyone keeps in touch, and I'm going to be an advocate for Skype and tell everyone to download it if you have a webcam. It's free chatting and video chatting, sooo it's definitely cheaper then long distant phone calls. My Skype screen name is KPho012, if you do have it def. let me know! If anyone still needs my contact information please let me know, I will also be posting my address as soon as I find out what it is.

She said she was arriving in the morning at 8:25. Being true Dumagueteños, we waited until the last

She said she was arriving in the morning at 8:25. Being true Dumagueteños, we waited until the last minute to go to the airport to pick up our youngest sister; after all, the airport was just about 10 minutes away from our home. This was a side trip for Aay from Manila where she and a colleague had done an audit on a bpo scanning documents for their home company, Altria, the makers of Phillip Morris. As the audit had been completed the previous day, Aay couldn't just go back to Richmond, Virginia without dropping by on her family in Dumagueta, us. And so we did some adjustments on our schedules so we could have some bonding time while the baby sister was in town.

Nennen had traveled from Ozamiz (where she's studying to be a nurse) to be home for Aay's visit. She was able to persuade her doctor to issue a medical certificate so she could be excused from her classes for this long weekend. And I did my part by filing a one-day leave from work for Friday and a palit-araw for Saturday (which I worked for last Monday, supposed to be a holiday for the Independence Day), plus a change of work schedule on Monday so I could drive Aay to the airport for her Monday afternoon flight back to Manila.

At 8:05 am, I got a text message from Aay saying she was here! Huh? Nennen was just out from the
shower and so we scrambled to get to the airport so Aay didn't need to wait long. As we got there, the porter she hired already had her suitcases in tow, so without parking, we just breezed through the airport after her baggage were loaded in the car. The three youngest sisters of the Maghanoy brood were together once again!

First stop, Jollibee for some hot drinks and a taste of their beef tapa. Next, we asked just about anybody on the street where "Bismark" was, so we could have a couple of nameplates made. Seemed like nobody was familiar with the shop... One guy directed us to Opsimas, but since Bismark was "more known" for nameplates, we proceeded to San Juan St, where the same guy said it was located. Near the west end of San Juan, we saw it - Bestmark! No wonder...

And then we went home to have Aay do some unpacking of pasalubongs: bags, polo shirts, underwear, lotions, homemade blings featuring Swarovski beads (gifts from Ate Mayoke, who's very talented in making jewelry), etc. And there were the letters from Mommy, Daddy, and Ate Mayoke... made me sniffle. Christmas in June!

And then it was time to pick up Matt and Tyke. Their dismissal time was 10:30 and they had to be at the gym by 1:00 pm for their acquaitance party. They had plenty of time to change clothes at home, and it was on to lunch. Don Atilano had just the ambience we were looking for: great view of the sea, cool air conditioning, and Pinoy cuisine! Best of all, the place was empty save for these three sisters and two brothers celebrating a small family reunion. After lunch, when the boys were at their party and nennen had a personal errand, I got some alone time with the baby sister... Hahaha! or so I thought! It was just like I was alone. Because jet lag caught up with her. And so she spent the afternoon doing what she does best... SLEEP! And my, it was only the start! Of course she got up so we could have dinner out. But whenever we were just at home, she was in her favorite spot - the sofa! She reminded us "Ingon ani man jud ko, di ba?" And so she is. Aay, the sleepyhead. This girl really is Aay. :)

Besos y abrazos

One of the best way of avoiding jetlag, I've found, is to stick to my own schedule, even if that means waking up at 3 am and being in bed by 9 or 10 pm. This is most important if I'm traveling on business for a few days only. But, you must adjust to the new time zone if you plan to be there for more than a few days.

I found out it's confusing to spend a day or 2 in 3 different time zones within a short period of time.

Arriving in Minneapolis, second time zone

Caffeine intake should be reduced as well. I made the mistake of drinking too much to stay up late to catch up with local people. I'm now paying the price. But, this yuck feeling can be minimized by drinking lots of water and avoiding caffeine at all cost for the next day or so.

Plan your schedules ahead of time in different zones and you'll be fine.

Happy travel!

Nothing much is new. Summer classes started yesterday. //Yawn... Pretty boring stuff. Apparently I wasn't enrolled for biology, but I was enrolled in Earth Science. Studying rocks...wow. Just wow. I know it's an important science and all that mumbo jumbo, but OMG. Studying rocks..it seems so sad. My professor seems overly enthusiastic about it, too. I must admit, though, that I am a little interested in the meteorology aspect of it. It's space. COME ON!

Space rocks? Yes please!

In other news, I think I'm finally over my jetlag. I woke up at midnight to eat dinner because I fell asleep early, but I was able to get more snoozies in from 2am to 5am so I'm all good!

A couple funnies for the day..

I hate it when this happens! Commander Riker, I feel your pain. //Salute

For some reason, Segways piss me off. I don't know why, maybe it's their "I'm all high and mighty" look. I can deal with bicycles, tricycles, those single wheeled cycle thingys, and even heelys, but it's just something about Segways that make me want to Hulk punch their faces in. This video was so satisfying. Too bad it wasn't the one doing the stupid dance that fell. Not sure if it's fake or not. The camera seemed to zoom in right before she fell, so, you be the judge. Fake or not, it's very satisfying. :)

I recently bought a couple of albums. One of which was Paramore's "Riot!" album. I listened to a couple of songs in pimptastic's car and they weren't bad, so what the hell. The album is O.K., I haven't had enough time to listen to all of the songs thoroughly, but some songs stick out. I really like the melody of the song ,"Hallelujah".

I'm a sucker for female vocalists...

Yep, I’m still jet lagged. It’s weird. I’ve slept a total of 10 hours in the last

Yep, I'm still jet lagged. It's weird. I've slept a total of 10 hours in the last 3 days, most of which were naps, and I still can't force myself to sleep at night. It's 11:39 p.m. now and I'm not tired. I was considering buying those jetlag pills that are supposed to remedy the whole time change thing, but something seemed fishy. Fishy, fishy...Tiger, tiger.

I recently had to replace the power supply of my computer. My mom blew it up or something while I was gone. No big deal, I replace the power supply and all is good right? WRONG. The power surge corrupted some files in my boot drive which made it all wacky. I spent all night/morning yesterday/today reformatting and fiddling with stuff. With the help of my jetlag and a crap ton of caffeine, I prevailed! My pc is now fixed with minimal data loss. Oh, and she is looking hawter than ever.

Yes, my computer turns me on. Leave me alone.

Summer courses start in a couple of days. I'm not very enthused. It wouldn't be so bad if it was a comp. sci. course, but it's not. I'm taking a biology course to fulfill requirements. My best bet is to hope for some "distractions" in class. All of the aesthetically pleasing ones seem to be biology majors so..

Gamingwise, I recently purchased Mass Effect on the PC. No 360 here so I suffered the wait. 6 hours in, I'm liking it. Bioware delivers as usual. The action oriented RPG was a huge hit when it came out on 360, and I can't wait for the sequels to come out. It's a great sci-fi franchise. Like spaceships, aliens, and space marines? Definitely pick it up.

Still not tired.. hate my body.

At 2:30 PM, I finally gave in. I crawled into bed and closed my eyes. I was too tired to begin digging through the boxes of belongings that my parents had stored for me. So I told myself that I'd take a cat nap and get to work later.

Of course, 2:30 PM is really 3:00 AM New Delhi time. And so, eight hours later, I'm back on the wrong track. I had worked hard to push myself to stay up until nightfall. Or at least until the evening. But now it is 11 PM, and I have just crawled out of bed. Eight hours later.

We can fly halfway around the world in 20 hours, but the physical body takes longer to let go of a place. Mine continues to cling to the time zone I used to know.

But my body also appears to be a bit confused. Because after sleeping from 3 AM to 11 AM New Delhi time, it is now 11 PM California time. And I'm sleepy again. Yawn.
