Ar kolēģi parēķinājām, cik spēlēs tad būtu jāuzvar, lai tiktu pusfinālā, kas norisināsies parīt. Tā kā uzvaru skaits 4 izspēlētajās spēlēs ir galvenais rādītājs, ko ņem vērā, komplektējot pusfinālu, tad visai viegli šis tas ir prognozējams. Patiesībā eksistē tikai 2 varianti, cik spēlētāji ar cik uzvarām var pabeigt pirmo dienu, pieņemot, ka kopējais spēlētāju skaits būs 128:
1) 1 spēlētājs ar 4 uzvarām, 6 spēlētāji ar 3 uzvarām, 25 spēlētāji ar 2 uzvarām;
2) 0 spēlētāji ar 4 uzvarām, 7 spēlētāji ar 3 uzvarām, 25 spēlētāji ar 2 uzvarām;

Tā kā pusfinālā tiek 16 labākie, tad jebkurā gadījumā ir skaidrs, ka:
1) lai tiktu pusfinālā, pilnīgi pitiek uzvarēt trijās spēlēs no četrām;
2) ja tiek tikai pie divām uzvarām, tad cerības tikt pusfinālā ir vairs tikai 36%;
3) uzvarot tikai reizi, pusfinālā tikt nav iespējams.

No ko, tātad minimālā robeža, uz kuru man jātiecas, ir 2 uzvaras, un tad jācer, ka pārējie rādītāji man būs pietiekami veiksmīgi... Vai arī vienkārši jāuzvar 3 reizes un nav jāuztraucas par citiem rādītājiem. Tik vienkārši! :)

Gday wins the roll and takes odds.

Gday opens up the game by recruiting Lois Lane, revealing the top four cards of his deck and taking the only Team Supes member: Metropolis Marvel. Spud answers with Faust, and Lois kicks him in the knees.

On 2, Spud drops Katana on the board, hoping Gday will miss his 2, allowing Kat to KO her. Sadly, Gday drops a Gangbuster. Spud pouts. In combat, Faust goes up into Gangbuster for the dual, and Kat dives down into Lois. Lois attempts a powerup for the dual stun, but Spud flips Forbidden Loyalties for a counter on Katana, and Lois eats dirt.

At the start of turn 3, Gday frowns slightly-- he has no 3, and though he has search cards, they have a cost of 4. He passes his turn 3 recruit. Spud brings out Kimiyo Hoshi, forming her in the back beside Faust, who is behind Katana. On Gday's swings, he goes for the dual with Katana, and then Spud goes in with Kimiyo for 4 on his init. On to 4!

Spud brings out Shimmer and Terra on 4, and Gday responds with Superman - Clark Kent, who he forms protecting Gangbuster. On his swings, Spud flips another Loyalties to team up, then sends everyone but Terra into Clark Kent, getting a free stun on Gangbuster along the way. Once it's legal, Spud activates Terra on Katana to ensure she'll survive to use her KO effect; Gday doesn't have anything to bounce the attack, so he frowns and takes the stun, stunning Kimiyo back. Katana does her thing, and Clark Kent is fired.

Gday has turn 5, and notes that in 5 turns, he's seen a single Doom character and a single Doom plot twist. The dictator clearly has important matters of state to attend to this evening! Still, Gday has a solid recruit: Superman - Metropolis Marvel, who is a 13/13 before Spud even recruits anything. As it happens, Spud's recruit for the turn is a foursome of 1-drops-- bouncing Faust for Recruitment Drive to get Own Mercer and Technocrat, then dropping Faust, Gizmo, Owen, and Technocrat, pumping Metropolis Marvel to an impressive 16/16. Not bad for a 5-drop!

Sadly though, the loss of Clark Kent last turn means that Gday can't really use Supes' brawn to much effect, as he has no way to break up reinforcement. He sends Gangbuster into Katana for the dual (and a bounce to Owen), and then MetMar dives into Kimiyo, who gets reinforced by Faust. Not wanting to lose anybody, Spud simply passes and play moves to turn 6.

Spud continues his pattern of not filling his resource points, dropping a Dick Grayson and replaying Katana before passing. Spud also makes a play mistake here-- he flips an Omnipotence, agonozing over whether Mystical or Indestructable is a better call, and ultimately settles on Mystical. This is a mistake-- Spud should've waited for Gday to declare his recruit before flipping this, as it would've been pretty easy to determine then whether Mystical is worth worrying about.

Gday's recruit for the turn is Superman - Kal-El (after flipping Look-Alike Squad to dodge uniqueness and make Spud panic), who protects Gangbuster. On his swings, Spud sends six attackers (Dick Grayson, Katana, Kimiyo, Technocrat, Gizmo, and Terra) into Kal-El. Several effects fire here: Kimiyo stuns Metropolis Marvel for free; Dick Grayson readies the adjacent Terra; Terra activates on Kimiyo to make her unstunnable; and Optitron Corporation activates to ready Kimiyo. Spud is pretty happy with his attack, until his earlier mistake comes back to bite him: Gday exhausts for Indestructable. A frustrating mistake; Gday stuns Katana (who bounces), and takes nothing himself. Spud decides to try again; he readies Dick Grayson with Press The Attack, and then sends Dick, Kimiyo, Shimmer, and Faust in at 13ATK to try again (stunning Gangbuster with Kimiyo). However, Superman proves to be indestructable once again, as Gday powers up with a Kal-El from hand and then flips and replaces a Cadmus Labs to get to 14DEF and bounce the attack. Kimiyo gets stunned, and Gday goes into turn 7 with two Supermen. Not a good sign for Tony Danza.

On 7, Gday flips For The Man Who Has Everything to dig through his deck for a Superman character-- the only 7-drop is Sub-Mariner though (who Gday both can't search out and can't recruit), so he opts to get a second Metropolis Marvel into the board. Not a bad choice considering Spud's character count. With Gday having a character who can fly, as well as a pair of 17/17s, he can theoretically break up Spud's reinforcement and then smash through for JUST enough to end the game.

Spud therefore decides to dig, playing Underworld Star to look through his deck for some sort of off-init answer-- and is pleased as punch to find one of the best off-init characters in the game in Dr. Light - Dr. Arthur Light. Spud puts Light in the back row, then activates him to stun one of the Metropolis Marvels, forming his other 8 characters in a 2x4 block to allow Gday only one punch-through swing.

Grumbling, Gday takes what he can get, using Kal-El to hit Kimiyo (who bounces to Owen, who is definitely pulling his weight this game), and then swings his 17/17 bruiser through an unreinforced Terra. At the end of the turn, Gday's on 18 to Spud's 16--- that second MetMar would've closed it out.

Play advances to 8. Spud's getting low on usable cards, and only drops Kimiyo with a Power Gem. He also flips Omnipotence, naming Indestructable, then passes to Gday. The Latverian Embassy is finally able to page Victor and tell him he's needed, and Doom shows up with one of his best versions-- the classic Lord of Latveria, who flips down some plots for Gday and guards one of the MetMars imposingly. He forms both of the 5-drops in the back, and Kal-El guards the second one-- Spud's going to need some luck to pull this off.

Spud decides to pull a move from the Super-Trooper playbook: he teams everything but his 6-drop (9 characters total) into Dr. Doom at 23ATK, getting a freebie stun on a Metropolis Marvel along the way (who Gday KOs to Lookalike Squad to bring out a Supes Red) (Oh, and Technocrat's power also fires, and Spud smiles at his draw), and then Dr. Light activates to stun the defender, which readies Spud's board. He sends the same 8 guys into Kal-El, free stunning the second Metropolis Marvel-- and then plays the card he drew off Technocrat earlier, using Press the Attack to ready Dr. Light and once again stun the defender. Gday is down to a 3-drop and Spud has his entire board; they decide to call it there.

Final score: Tony Danza 16, Mask of Steel -23.

Todo empezó delante del ayuntamiento del pueblo, había como concentraciones de gente para unas elecciones, estaba todo petado vamos, e iba yo por la calle trasteando con el iPhone cuando me encuentro en un banco a unos compañeros y amigos de la facultad. Me siento un rato con ellos y aprovecho para twittear un poco. Al cabo de un rato, Vito también se saca un iPhone y yo me había quedado un poco rallada, porque no me esperaba que ella lo tuviese. Nos pusimos a hablar sobre los iPhones, y al rato Dani se va a un ascensor (que no sé que cojones pintaba ahí, pero la calle era la planta superior y bajaba como a 5 sótanos o algo así) y Paola le empieza a gritar porque se sube a laparte de arriba y empieza a dar volteretas en una barra, y el ascensor subía y bajaba y todos acojonados con que le aplastase. Le gritábamos, pero el tío no paraba, hasta que se llevó un susto, y casi se cae.

Después de esto, nos fuimos a una explanada llena de gente, y había como una carroza cutre donde estaba Bustamante (WTF?????), que al parecer se iba a presentar como alcalde o una movida similar. Al rato la gente se fue y se quedó todo vacío, nos quedamos el grupo que estábamos antes y una pareja extraña. En este momento hay una anécdota: uno de los que estaba con nosotros vio un algo brillante en el suelo, y pensando que era una moneda se fue corriendo, pero el tío de la pareja también lo hizo, se pelearon y finalmente vieron que era una chapa, pero también se pelearon por ella. No sé como acabó la pelea de marras, que joder, es una absurdez, porque yo estaba en una mesa intentando buscar la tapa buena de la cajita de mi iPhone (era como una caja metálica, del estilo de las que traen algunas barajas), pero estaban todas echas mierda.
Después de esto, me encontraba con otras personas en unas montañas nevadas (del estilo Dun Morogh en el WoW). Entonces, vimos algo y fuimos a cogerlo, y un tío nos empezó a perseguir, y empezamos a correr, como cuando te persigue en el WoW un bicho lvl calavera y elite XD.
Después vino una escena que parecía sacada de un videojuego, concretamente del Mario Party de la N64, Handcar Havoc pero más en plan Dun Morogh, y empezamos a correr con los cacharritos hasta llegar al final, que había un muro con un tesoro, el cual teníamos que coger para entregarle a nosequién. Lo cogimos y cada vez nos perseguía más gente, pero nos cargábamos a los que nos intentaban matar.

Un rato después de correr para intentar librarnos de los perseguidores nos metimos en una especie de torre, que tenía unas escaleras de caracol, pero era una cosa rara, porque por la parte más alta tenía una especie de ventana o algo, y la puerta no sé donde estaba, pero la ventana daba a las escaleras de caracol, y lo más seguro era bajarlas.
Los enemigos intentaban entrar por la ventana, pero les matábamos, entonces aparece uno que me intenta agarrar para matarme, pero saco la katana y le corto el brazo, pero el muy cabrón se ríe porque en el brazo tenía una granada sin anilla, por lo que volaríamos por los aires si cayese al suelo, pero cayó, no explotó, entonces se la lancé a los de fuera y salieron volando. Se acercaban más enemigos, pero de un katanazo me los cargaba, pero después de esto, apareció como una princesa que no recuerdo qué quería exactamente, pero estaba de parte del enemigo, y le rebané el cuello con la katana, pero no había podido cortarla del todo, a diferencia de antes, así que mientras ella lloraba diciendo que no la matásemos, yo llorando también le seguía intentando cortar del todo la cabeza, para que dejase de sufrir. Una vez la cabeza en el suelo dijo algo y se murió del todo, y aquí la menda empapada de sangre, se despertó...

Y colorín colorado (nunca mejor dicho), este sueño se ha acabado ;)

Desde sua infância, Tomizo Ishida teve fascinação por espadas japonesas, embora não descendesse de uma família de "espadeiros".

As espadas confeccionadas por Mestre Ishida tem reconhecimento internacional, inclusive como superiores às espadas katana forjadas no Japão antigo.

Em 1949, aos 25 anos, Tomizo Ishida resolveu vir para a cidade de Mairiporã (a 50 km da capital paulista), onde reside até hoje. Poucos anos depois tornou-se relojoeiro e ourives, ao abrir seu próprio negócio.

Apenas em 1962 que Mestre Ishida decidiu iniciar a produção de espadas japonesas. Foi de forma amadora que começou a produzir exemplares de katana, wakisashi e tatchi, baseando-se apenas em livros que parentes do Japão lhe enviavam. Posteriormente, teve contato prático com Oda Sensei e Oura Sensei, renomados artífices de espadas japonesas no Brasil.

Em 1991, ele e sua esposa foram agraciados pela sociedade japonesa no Brasil com os títulos de comendadores grã-cruz por sua contribuição às artes nipônicas no Brasil.

Em sua primeira fase, Mestre Ishida produziu cerca de 350 espadas e, de tanto forjar lâminas durante longos períodos sem interrupção, ele acabou comprometendo e muito a audição de um dos ouvidos. O artesão teve 3 filhos homens, mas nenhum seguiu seu ofício.

A partir do final da década de 1980, Tomizo Ishida diminuiu muito a produção das espadas katana, vindo a encerrá-la oficialmente em 1992. Entretanto, a partir do final de 2004, felizmente, Mestre Ishida retomou a produção de espadas em edição limitada de suas famosas espadas katana.

Alle die sich auch nur ansatzweise mit Katanas beschäftigen, wissen was ich meine, für die anderen eine kurze Erklärung: Sicher, du hast schon Samuraischwerter für 35 Euro gesehen. Für 50 Euro bekommst du dazu ein Wakizashi und ein Tando und der Ständer ist auch noch mit dabei. Vergess es. Das ist Müll aus rostfreiem 420er oder 440er Stahl. Die Dinger sind protzig aufgemacht, aber du darfst sie dir nur an die Wand hängen. Komm nie auf die Idee, sie für Tameshigiri oder Iaido zu verwenden. (Nur für's Protokoll: Ja, ich hatte solche Teile auch daheim stehen und ja, ich hatte mit dem Gedanken gespielt, mich in Connor McLeod umbenennen zu lassen, aber man wird älter und lernt ein oder zwei Dinge dazu, mit etwas Glück :-) ). 150 Euro zahlt man oft schon für ein gutes Messer. Für ein Schwert, dass für sportliche Zwecke verwendet werden soll ist das, wie der Anglais sagt, next to impossible.

Nun aber zur Sache, sprich zu dem Katana, das mir Kevin, wie ich unseren Postman nenne, nach einer ultra kurzen Wartezeit gebracht hat. Fangen wir am Besten mit einer Gesamtübersicht an.

Das Katana wird in einer netten stoffüberzogenen Kiste, inkl. eines Transportbeutels geliefert. Hier einige Detailaufnahmen:

Hier einige Fakten zu meinem Premium II: Katana und Saya (Scheide) wiegen zusammen ca. 1.250 g. Das Katana alleine wiegt knapp über 1.000 g. Es ist gut ausbalanciert und liegt dementsprechend leicht in der Hand. Die Gesamtlänge beträgt ca. 103 cm. Die Klinge hat eine Länge von knapp 70 cm. Die durchbrochene Tsuba gefällt mir sehr gut. Der Griff ist an der Angel mit 2 Mekugis (Haltedübel) befestigt. Der erste nach ca. 4 cm, der zweite nach ca. 20 cm. Das deutet darauf hin, dass die Angel weit in den Griff hinein reicht. Fuchi (Schwertzwinge) und Kashira (Knauf) sitzen etwas locker und haben dementsprechend Spiel (könnte besser sein). Die Menukis (Griffzierrat) sind goldfarben, die Griffwicklung und die Unterlage schwarz. Meiner Meinung nach sieht das ziemlich cool aus. Ob die Griffunterlage tatsächlich aus echter Rochenhaut ist kann ich nicht sagen (bisher habe ich noch nie einen Rochen betatscht und werde das auch in Zukunft unterlassen um nicht das Schicksal des crocodile hunter zu teilen). Das Katana sitzt gut, aber nicht sehr fest in der Saya. Wenn man das Schwert an der Saya, Tsuka (Griff) nach unten hält, löst sich das Katana nicht. Die Klinge hat eine beidseitige Hohlkehle (Hi) und nur eine relativ leichte Krümmung (Sori ca. 1,5 cm), was mir sehr gut gefällt. Soweit ich das erkennen kann, ist die Klinge aus Monostahl ohne Differentialhärtung, sprich, Mune (Rücken) und Ha (Schneide) haben die gleiche Härte, schätzungsweise 55 Rockwell.

Beim Papiertest konnte das Premium II leider nicht richtig überzeugen. Die Schärfe ist nicht schlecht, könnte aber besser sein. Als nächster Test stand Tameshigiri mit leichten Zielen (Tatami omote) an.

Auch hier konnte das Premium II nicht wirklich überzeugen.

Das Vergleichskatana hat eine deutlich bessere Performance gezeigt. Wobei Jens McLeod auch mit dem Premium II einige saubere Schnitte zustande gebracht hat.

Zusammenfassend kann man sagen, dass das Premium II ein gutes Stück von einem richtig guten Schwert entfernt ist. Zu diesem Preis jedoch überhaupt ein funktionstüchtiges Schwert zu bekommen ist der Hammer und auf jeden Fall eine Überlegung wert.

Abschließend muss noch gesagt werden, dass die hier gezeigten Personen bestimmt mal Profis werden, wenn sie groß sind. Die erwähnten Tests und gezeigten Übungen wurden, bei allem Spaß, unter strengen Sicherheitsvorkehrungen ausgeübt. Eigene sportliche Übungen sollten ausschließlich unter Anleitung eines qualifizierten Lehrers durchgeführt werden. Bei Interesse könnte es helfen folgende Begriffe zu googeln: "Shinkendo Deutschland", "wissen will wie geht".

Seit Anbeginn der Zeit zerbrechen sich die gelehrtesten Denker ihre Köpfe, welches denn die beste Art sei, eine Pizza zu achteln. Bis spät in die 80er Jahre des vergangenen Jahrhunderts war es völlig normal, sie schlicht zu zerreißen. Dann kam eine mutierte Schildkröte out of nowhere und zeigte uns, warum in jede Küche, die etwas auf sich hält, ein Katana gehört.

Nun scheint die nächste Entwicklungsstufe erreicht und ich werde mich nicht mehr dagegen wehren können, alleine schon wegen der kleinen Liegefläche für die abgeschnittenen Stücke.

They love steel, silver, iron -- anything they can forge, hammer, bend and weld. They use words like anneal, temper, ductile, malleable, hone, forge.

They're fascinated with bladesmithing, such as the labor-intensive process of forging the katana, the long sword the samurai carry.  Matt bought a couple of replica katanas when we visited Japan, but it's just not the same as the real thing.  They had no cutting edge -- all show and no go.  (But they were so much cheaper!)

Matt and two of his friends have brought their appreciation of a sharp edge to their daily routine by using a straight edge razor to shave.  Matt ordered his online, while one friend got his at a pawn shop. 

"I think of my razor as a really high quality knife," Matt says.  "It's generally about as sharp as a knife can get."

Matt bought a DOVO Black Star with a pakkawood handle, made of high carbon tempered steel with a blade that's five-eighths of an inch wide. It's full hollow ground, which means that the faces of the blade are ground to make it as thin as possible.

"I wanted a better, cheaper alternative to normal shaving," Matt says.  "The choice was between a straight razor and a safety razor."

Matt likes to learn new, unusual skills, so that was another factor.

"How long did it take you to get the hang of it?" I ask.  The thing looks dangerous.  I've seen what a straight edge razor can do in "Sweeney Todd."  (Matt says that a true fan of a straight razor would never ruin a blade by using it like that.)

"It took about three weeks to stop cutting myself at least once every shave," Matt says.

Matt describes the basic procedure:  "Strop your razor a dozen times, first on the canvas side and then on the leather side.  I usually skip the canvas side unless my razor isn't honed enough. 

Shaving is best after a shower. You want your face to be as wet as possible, so don't use a towel.  Soak your brush (more on brushes below) in hot water and then swirl it on your bar of soap for ten or so seconds.  Now whip your brush in a bowl that contains a small amount of water.  Whip for 30 to 90 seconds to create a lather.  Apply lather to your face. 

Always shave first in a downward motion with the hair growth.  The chin and upper lip are the hardest parts.  After one pass downward, you can re-lather and shave perpendicular to the hair growth, or shave against the hair growth.  Two or three passes are generally required to get a close shave.  One with the grain, one perpendicular and one against.  I generally only do two passes, one with the grain, one against.

After shaving, splash warm water on your face to remove all of the soap residue, then splash cold water on your face to close your pores.  Then pat dry.  Never wipe dry, or you'll dry out your skin too much.  You can then apply a facial lotion, if you want."

In the long run, shaving with a straight razor is cheaper than disposable razors and blades and shaving cream in a can, and there's a lot less waste.

"My bar of shaving soap, which cost ninety-nine cents at Wal-Mart, will probably last for dozens and dozens of shaves."

Do the guys still shave as often?  One friend still uses the straight razor -- when he shaves.  "He tends to grow beards for a while," Matt says.

"I still shave about as much as I used to, but if I go for several days, and my facial hair gets long, the razor has no problems cutting through it," Matt says.  "It doesn't clog like a normal razor does."

He admits to using a disposable cartridge if he's pressed for time.  He may get a safety razor for those times when he's in a hurry. (Which is probably every time he's heading to class.)

"But if I have an extra fifteen minutes, it's certainly more fun to use a straight razor," he says.

Am I a convert?  Considering  I have more area to mangle and mutilate, I don't think so........

There are three grades of badger brushes -- pure, best and the top grade of silvertip, Matt says.  Matt has the best badger, which is the middle level.  Badger brushes are softer and hold more water than the cheaper boar hair or synthetic brushes.   

Clean the brush thoroughly after each shave and shake it dry.

"Badger smells like wet dog for the first ten times," he warns.

Da es sich um einen Flughafen handelt, gelten verschärfte Bestimmungen: Um reinzukommen, muss zuerst ein Flughafenmensch geholt werden, der einen dann zum Flugzeug geleitet. Dasselbe Spiel bei der Abreise.

¿Qué es una Katana?
Una Katana es un sable Japones, que posee un filo único y curvado, generalmente utilizado por los Samurais.
En el Japón medieval esta espada fue el arma más importante que existía. Tan pero tan importante era, que en 1588 fue declarada privilegio exclusivo de la clase guerrera. "La espada es el alma del samurai" Decía Tokugawa Ieyasu.
Un Samurai era facilmente reconocido en la calle por llevar visiblemente dos espadas,una larga, la Katana (de 60 a 90 cm), usada en las luchas en locales amplios, y una menor, llamada Wakisashi (de 30 a 60cm), para espacios cerrados. El nombre de este conjunto se denominaba Daisho y representaba el estatus máximo que un guerrero podia alcanzar, simbolizando, por ser perrogativa exclusiva de la clase, el orgullo del guerrero.
La historia de la Katana esta íntimamente ligada con la historia del Japón y el desarrollo de las técnicas de lucha. Su denominación fue cambiando según el período histórico en el que uno se ubique:
1 - Jokoto, hasta el 795.
2 - Koto (espadas antiguas) 795 - 1596
3 - Shinto (espadas nuevas) 1596 - 1624
4 - Gendaito (espadas contemporáneas) 1876 - 1953.

Jokoto: Las espadas utilizadas en este período eran rectas, con filo simple (Chokuto) o doble (Ken) y pobremente templadas. No había diseño patron y eran atadas a la cintura por medio de cuerdas. Segun algunas evidencias historicas, estas espadas estarían hechas por artesanos Chinos y Coreanos que vivían en Japón.

Koto: a partir del período Heian (794-1185) aparece el termino Nipponto (Nippon =Japon, to=espada, osea "espada Japonesa"). Un cambio en el estilo de lucha, creó la necesidad de alterar el diseño. El eje de guerra pasó a ser caballería y las espadas, en consonancia, se tornaron largas y curvas, con una base mas larga, fuerte y una punta muy fina. En esta etapa son llamadas "Tachi" y solían tener motivos budistas, demostrando el fuerte lazo con la religión y la filosofía. En este mismo período fue creado el método caracteristico de forjar las espadas logrando una superficie extremadamente dura y un nucleo más blando.
En el período Kamakura (1185-1333), con Japón bajo el dominio de la clase guerrera, fue considerado la epoca de oro de las Nipponto. Muchas espadas consideradas tesoro nacional fueron producidas en ese período.
La katana, surgió en el período Muromachi (1333-1568). Con los feudos en guerra, los ejercitos crecian y los soldados a caballo se tornaban mas raros y la fuerza principal venia de soldados que combatian a pie. Variando por ello el largo de entre 60 y 90 cm, con hoja de ancho uniforme, este arma era más facil de cargar y se las podía desenvainar rapidamente.

Shinto: En este período comienza el gobierno de Tokugawa y a pesar de que las armas de fuego ya formaban parte del armamento de los ejércitos, las espadas seguían siendo producidas, de forma cada vez más refinada y calidad superior, con materia prima más accesible, gracias a la experiencia de los artesanos armeros que ahora viajaban con los ejercitos. Es por esto que las espadas de este período son conocidas como espadas nuevas. Se trata de una fase corta, pues, con la unificación interna de Japón, fue instituida una ley que prohibía la portación de espadas por parte de los samurais. Se sumo a esto la inflación y la caida en la calidad del acero producido, lo que hizo también caer la calidad de las espadas.

Gendaito: Las espadas hechas a partir de la era Meiji son llamadas espadas modernas o Gendaito. Se las fabrico en su mayor parte, para los oficiales japonenes y para su uso en el ceremonial publico. A pesar de poseer la misma forma que una espada tradicional, no mantienen ciertas caracteristicas que hacen de las espadas anteriores al período piezas artesanales inigualables y, además, las Gendaito se fabrican con acero industrial, no con acero obtenido del modo tradicional.

¿Quién es Hattori Hanzo?
Muchos han escuchado hablar de él gracias a la pelicula Kill Bill (de hecho la katana que yo me compré es la replica que usa "The Bride" en dicha pelicula) en esta se lo presenta como un legendario forjador de katanas en Okinawa, que vive en la actualidad y que le entrega la katana en una ceremonia especial.
En realidad fue uno de los ninjas con mas poder a finales del siglo XVI, siendo el cabecilla del clan Iga, sirvió a Ieyasu Tokugawa, el que se convertiría en el Shogun (Gobernador de Japón).
La primera lucha en una batalla para Hattori fue a los 16 años y pronto se gano la fama de ser un guerrero feroz y sangriento. Fue criado con las artes marciales como su principal ocupación de vida, se gano el apodo "Iwami No Kami" (El Fantasma) y murió en batalla el 4 de diciembre de 1596.
Cabe destacar que muchos personajes no solo de manga/anime/cine, estan basados en Hanzo, de hecho segun la leyenda fue Hattori el primero en desarrollar tecnicas de ocultación en charcas y lagos, la típica escena de un ninja sumergido en el agua con una caña de bambu en la boca respirando gracias a ella es del tipo de las mensionadas.
Hoy en día se puede visitar su tumba que se encuentra en un templo de Shinjuku, junto a su tumba se pueden ver algunas de las armas utilizadas por él.
Otro dato de color es que una de las puertas del palacio imperial tomó el nombre de "Hanzo" en honor a él, esta misma puerta da el nombre a la estación de metro Hanzomon y por ende a la línea entera Hanzomon, osea una linea de color lila en Tokyo lo representa ^^

Es tal vez por el hecho de que Hattori haya sido tan conocido que a veces se confunde a los ninjas con los Samurais. Sin embargo, como si estuviesemos hablando del Ying y el Yang los conceptos de Samurai y Ninja representan los opuestos perfectos, a veces en conflicto y otras veces coincidentes.

¿Cuáles son las diferencias entre los ninjas y los samurais?
Basicamente el ninja era el guerrero de las sombras, un maestro del engaño. Se movia con perfecto silencio y disimulo, lo que se veia reflejado en su ropa negra con capucha.
El samurai, por el contrario, era el supremo sr de la guerra, formado para encabezarla y dirigirla. A diferencia del ninja, este juraba obediencia a una autoridad superior, emperador o señor feudal. Es por esta razon que su derrota significaba una mancha imborrable, solo sobrellevable con el suicidio. Llevaba una forma de vida gerárquica, escalonada, sumamente verticalista.
El ninja, en cambio, es sumamente horizontal, ya que en dicha horizontalidad encontrará el anonimato que necesita para pasar inadvertido.
El samurai estaba vinculado con el poder, el ninja era inhaprensible y autónomo. Para el samurai, la armadura debía ser vistosa e imponente, sus adornos magnificaban su presencia, todo lo contrario del ninja que busca pasar desapercibido, guardar silencio y cuyo estilo de combate intenta funcionar con la mayor discrecion posible.
Como los samurai estaban intimamente vinculados con los señores feudales, gozaban de privilegios que no poseía el resto de la poblacion, por ejemplo el derecho a portar armas. Esto, sumado al poder que poseían, los llevo a una etapa de abusos y desprestigios. Comenzaron a ser vistos como explotadores de la población civil, a la cual fijaban sus propias reglas.
La tradición histórica ve en los ninjas al propio pueblo japones levantado en armas contra sus opresores. Así es como muchos campesinos se dedicaban a la practica clandestina del ninjutsu para hacer frente a los abusos de los samurai.
Sin embargo existen relatos sobre ninjas que fueron a la vez importantes samurai, Hanzo es uno de ellos.
Me despido con una frase de aquellos que proclaman que existe una gran diferencia entre uno y otro:
"Cualquier ninja puede ser un samurai, pero ningun samurai puede ser un ninja"

En el anime Blood+ (la proxima entrada, juro que será de blood+, ya la estoy preparando!!!) el personaje principal se llama Saya Otonashi, Saya es la funda de la katana y Otonashi significa "sin sonido", osea funda sin sonido... lo interesante de este comentario de color es que Saya se pasa todo el manga y el anime cargando una katana especial que es con la unica arma que puede matar a los chiropterans.

Lo curioso, es que cuando este cruel asesinato, por parte de un perturbado psicótico, al igual que otras muchas barbaridades como esta suceden, se usan mediáticamente para atacar a uno de los mayores sectores del ocio de la actualidad: Los videojuegos.

Todos recordamos al asesino de la katana, que se cargó a sus padres y a su hermana con sindrome de down ¿verdad? Pues no importa que el chaval fuera un adolescente con epilepsia, psicológicamente inestable, y con carencias de cariño debido a la enorme atencion que su hermana requería. Lo que importa es que el chaval en cuestión jugaba al Final Fantasy, y al que se intenta hacer el culpable principal. La investigación lo lía, los interesados lo tergiversan, y los medios de comunicación lo magnifican, y ahi está, un peligro que acecha a nuestros hijos.

Luego salen tertulias, de expertos, padres, y "entendidos", que califican al GTA como una salvajada, pero que tienen en casa jugando a sus hijos con los mismos juegos que critican, por que son tan buenos padres que no se paran a leer el código PEGI que trae cada juego, con una calificacion por edades y explicando varios de los contenidos del título.

Lo cojonudo, es que los que ya llevamos muchos años metidos en esto de los videojuegos, jugamos toda la vida a juegos como Doom o los míticos mortal kombat de principios de los 90, con sangre a raudales, fatalities y la de la movida, y nunca matamos a nadie, ni somos sadicos perturbados, ni hubo ningun problema.

Pero todo cambia cuando algo se convierte en un fenómeno de masas, cuando esos individuos mandamases e influyentes, que, apelando a la "ética" y a la "moral", ponen todas las trabas posibles a un juego violento, exclusivamente destinado al público adulto, mientras su hijo apalea indigentes por la calle.

En eso se basa el sistema, en educación, no en prohibición ni censura, ni en la facilidad de una vez que has criado un niño-monstruo, a base de caprichos y consentirle todo, echarle la culpa a los videojuegos, a los amigos o a la tele. ¿como va a ser la culpa de unos padres que no se preocupan de sus hijos? No, hombre no!

¿Y a que viene esto? A que estoy hasta los cojones de tener que esperar meses por un juego como Manhunt 2, porque a cuatro mojigatos conservadores que no saben si una consola tiene ruedas, o música o de qué va, se les ponga en los cojones considerar un peligro público a un videojuego destinado únicamente al público adulto y perfectamente etiquetado por el sistema PEGI.

Pero podéis estar tranquilos, si algun dia montáis en cólera, os volveis locos, y os cargais con una escopeta de feria a la dueña de un kiosko, la noticia bomba por la que saldréis en todos los telediarios, será que jugabais al tetris.

De hecho, la culpa de la guerra de Irak, la tiene el Puzzle Bobble, ¿no lo sabíais?¬¬

P.D: Actualizo con un video ya conocido desde hace años por los foros de videojuegos, que demuestra la locura colectiva de este post perfectamente y con la aportación que ENI nos deja abajo.

This, umm, "bike" is what happens when a 1600cc Volkswagen Beetle meets a Suzuki Katana 750.  The only name I can think of calling it is a "VolkSuzukiWagen."  Rolly, The owner/mad scientist who built it calls it a lot of fun.

It uses a completely stock 1600 cc Volkswagen motor (save for the straightpipes) with the original transaxle, rear suspension, and rear wheels.  Shifting is accomplished using the original floor-mount shifter, which now sits between the driver's legs.  The steering works with the original forks from the '85 Suzuki Katana, albeit through a linkage system that allows Rolly to sit further back on the mad machine.  And the beer keg?  Well, that's now a gas tank, with a "biodegradable" fuel gage--a wooden stick dipped that's dipped into the tank to tell how much is left.  Screw the Prius, this fully recycled wonder is what the planet really needs more of!

When Rolly took the bike down to Sturgis last year, he was completely bombarded with questions-not to mention offers to buy it or have another one built.  It got so bad, he had to jump off the bike and run every time he parked it.  Even here in the snowy city, where we aren't as bike-crazy as Sturgis, SD, Rolly's still the centre of attention everywhere he goes!
