Ok, I'm back from my little Bali holiday. I have been back for a little while now but I have not had much of a chance to get out shooting. It has driven me crazy to say the least. Unfortunately I did bugger all shooting in Bali. The days pretty much consisted of drinking bintang on the beach and not a lot else.

The shot below is one I took to more or less sum up the trip

I did manage to get away for a little bit last weekend and shoot the canola fields around York. I still have to go through and stitch a few of the shots when I get the chance. Here is one I am pretty happy with. Shot in the afternoon just after I arrived in town.

If anyone is keen to hook up for a shoot sometime let me know.

I have been reading Carl Sagan's book Billions and Billions lately. My 10 month old son kept pulling it off the book shelf and I picked it up one day and opened it. I saw a note from the Honorable and Wise Ricki-son, who had given me this book as a gift in 1998. Now 10 years later I decide to reread it. I noticed that I only made it halfway anyway so, might as well finish it.

I am fascinated at how the human body interacts with and is related so strongly to nature. In the 4th chapter Sagan describes in detail the vast spectrum of wave properties from the low frequency Radio waves to the ultra frequent Gamma rays. And that within this wide range is a small part that is the visible light that we can see. That alone is truly remarkable...that there is so much "light" that we cannot see. These waves moving through space in our solar system are filtered by our atmosphere (another separate, wonderful story). He also describes how stars emit light in relation to the amount of energy they put out. He goes on to say:

The other reason we see in visible light is because that's where the Sun puts out most of it's energy. A very hot star emits much of its light in the ultraviolet. A very cool star emits mostly in the infrared. But the Sun, in some respects an average star, puts out most of its energy in the visible. Indeed, to remarkable high precision, the human eye is most sensitiveat the exact frequency in the yellow part of the spectrum at which the Sun is brightest.

Our eyes are completely tuned to the Sun's light. I remember Steiner somewhere saying the "light creates the eye." (I just don't remember where I read that.)

It's been Saturday when he did, and it's already another Saturday. Well, it is Saturday morning, it's only 7:40am. morning, but morning will turn to noon, the noon then to dusk, then it's night again. and i know, still he wouldn't care. he doesn't care. he used to care about me. that's why i like him, that's why i love him. i told him i love him. i told him to react, he didn't. that was a long time ago. he called after two months. he didn't say anything about it that i had to bring it up again. it was a serious thing to talk about. love is a serious thing. and he hates serious stuff. i hated it too but i love him so i had to be serious. he should be too. but since he hates it, the serious became a joke. and we ended there, we ended where we had actually started..jokin around. foolin and bummin and laughin out loud till we drop and still joke about the most nonsensical people. now i'm the one who's nonsensical, so he turns it into a joke..turns me into a joke.

i kept waiting for one message. a message that will never come. i know it won't come. i won't receive anything so i'm not gonna send anything to him either. i think its the right thing to do. coz only i get to do the things that men should do. so i wonder whether he's really the man or i am. maybe i am, that's why he doesn't like me. coz i dont wear skirt or sexy tops or make up. i'm no dyke. if i was dyke, i'd like girls. i don't. i'm tough and bitchy and i do what i want to do and the things i do always shock people and shut them up. like the way he shut up when i said i love you.

now it's summer and it's almost at its end. the piercing heat and freezing coldness will meet again. they always meet and chase each other. we were like that once. that's why i envy summer and rain. but just like them too, summer loses the battle and rain begins to pour. He is rain, I am Summer and i am losing my battle now. he's gonna pour down hard and strong and he's not alone. tears of the rain come in millions, and when they pour, he's gonna be with other raindrops. he's gonna fall into the ground. he's gonna fall with another raindrop and kiss the earth and in the cycle they will both turn into clouds and pour down again together. while Summer will return into the picture and be remembered a year after. sigh

[caption id="attachment_279" align="aligncenter" width="400" caption="Dropping Green Walnut"][/caption]

It's going to be a cold winter, so says the predictors. They say all the old farmers are reading the signs the animals are giving. Cold winter up ahead. Well I'm a sorta old farmer, and what I am seeing or rather hearing is ......
the sound of dropping green walnuts.

Yes, I finally figured that one out! I thought I was perhaps in a wierd re-incarnation of the blair witch, with rather loud distinct sounds coming from mostly the tree areas. Crunching, crashing, creaking, clicking. It turns out that all these sounds come from the green walnuts that the gray squirrels cut down from the walnut trees, leaves and all. If the walnut goes through the tree it's a crunching and crashing sounds. If it hits the roof of our old shed it's a clicking, bounce bounce bounce type sound. I'm a curious type so upon hearing these sounds from my writing window quite a few times, I decided to investigate. Er especially in the bright of day. Sure enough the gray squirrels high, so high, 50 feet high in the walnut trees are busy at work. Chewing and gnawing on the branch leaves. Harvesting their sailing walnuts down to the forest floor for gathering in either early morning or early evening. Busy busy busy always so busy. So I'm happy now knowing what those noises were, that went crash in the night. I also feel happy and privileged to see such a work of nature in action.

The Gathering

More noises! But different ones. I investigate, out my side sliding window and onto my wooden porch I step, and immediately my ears pull me upward. Music abounding of the "gathering" birds. It's the sound of A LOT of birds in the other tall trees. All gathered and speaking to one another. All so vocal that even the crickets are chirping in. What could they be saying? Perhaps discussions on ancient passage routes. Maybe catching up. I think both and possibly a whole lot more. A community a belonging how wonderful. All sitting on the very top branches and catching the setting western light.

The gray squirrels lay resting in Y shaped tree branches. Listening to their evening symphony. It's late August in fact August 29, 2008. The glorious orange summer sun is still shinning. We are all suspended for a moment of natural splendor.

Portland weather is sooo weird. Less than twenty minutes ago it was cloudy and rainy, but now the suns out and everything. Its nice though, but after a long summer I kind of miss the rain.

Anyway...

This is my first blog entry. To be honest, I'm not exactly sure how this'll go. I am a terrible procrastinator, and every journal i've ever had has been totally neglected after the first three entries. But this'll be different...right?

Here I will just kind of talk about my life, hobbies/obsessions, and other stuff. I guess I don't really mind if I get a whole bunch of readers, because I just have felt like lately i need a record of my adolescence. So i guess this is more for me that anything, which is how a blog should be.

...but if you feel like commenting, go for it! I would like to hear back from people from time to time!

Now, onto the rest of the entry!

At the moment, I'm waiting for my mom to finish getting ready so we can leave. Today, her and I are going back to school shopping and signing me up for dance classes. Money's a little tight, so i could only take 2 classes, so i chose ballet 1 and tap 1. I'm so excited!!! (≧∇≦)　I have had no previous experience dance-wise, so this will be really fun.

Plus, it'll be good for my body, too! (I hate to say this, but I have really crappy self esteem. So be prepared for that in the future... ～(￣∀￣；)

On a brighter note, I got the CUTEST jacket from the mall yesterday! Along with a really cute sweater! I'm wearing the jacket right now, I'll take a picture of it and post it later! Unfortunately I am currently using my mom's old phone until I get a new one for my bday. What kind should I get...?

Oh, my mom's ready. I'm glad I got to post such a long entry today.

・・・・・☆Bye!

I see you in my dreams,
Feeling a love so strong,
The rush of sensational waves,
So easy as I flow along,
In memories from afar,
A dimensional time and place,
Our souls bound as One,
Somewhere lost in the human race.
I look to the sun and moon,
The air that I breathe is you,
Drawing from all strengths,
This life to get me through.
The scent of the raging ocean,
The power of all time,
A magical bond of love,
The echoes so sublime,
Soul to soul is ancient,
Misunderstood in this race,
The seeking, searching one,
Choices are now to face.
Whispering winds flow,
The rustling of the leaves,
Within each sound I hear,
Your essence in the eves,
The sky I look upon,
My soul reaches out,
To once again feel you,
Your warmth without a doubt,
Soothes my aching heart,
Forever and a day,
My soul belongs to you,
Which shall never fall astray.
For you my love, my soul,
All things that you can see,
Yet, most importantly,
We live inside of thee.
These dreams within dreams,
Full circle in thought,
Soul mates are forever,
The ancients well have taught.

you can always take layers off but when you're in essentially your unmentionables, then what?

i hate summer. and now that i've said that, i am bracing myself because of the gasps. i know, i know. i live in California where the weather is warm and always sunny. boo hoo. poor you. but to tell you the truth, i don't totally hate summer. only extreme summer days like the one that we're experiencing today. nearly 100 degrees? what gives? i thought the weather was mild here.

it's your bare skin all of a sudden having suction and the sticky sound of it lifting from a chair, a leather sofa, anything. forget about wearing a skirt--your thighs will look burned and pink at the end of the day from them sticking to one another, flesh against flesh under a heating lamp. and what's worse, the lethargic feeling that inevitably increases with every degree above room temperature

is it just me or do the summers get hotter and hotter as the years go on? or is it just that i'm getting older and older and less tolerant? either way, i miss the 70s.

Children of the sun, see your time has just begun, searching for your ways, through adventures every day. Every day and night, with the condor in flight, with all your friends in tow, you search for the Cities of Gold. Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah... wishing for The Cities of Gold. Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah... some day we will find The Cities of Gold. Do-do-do-do ah-ah-ah, do-do-do-do, Cities of Gold. Do-do-do-do, Cities of Gold. Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah... some day we will find The Cities of Gold.

Thunder, thunder, thundercats, Ho! Thundercats are on the move, Thundercats are loose. Feel the magic, hear the roar, Thundercats are loose. Thunder, thunder, thunder, Thundercats! Thunder, thunder, thunder, Thundercats! Thunder, thunder, thunder, Thundercats! Thunder, thunder, thunder, Thundercats! Thundercats!

This is my boss, Jonathan Hart, a self-made millionaire, he's quite a guy. This is Mrs H., she's gorgeous, she's one lady who knows how to take care of herself. By the way, my name is Max. I take care of both of them, which ain't easy, 'cause when they met it was MURDER!

Some Photo's I took around my village in Thailand. Hope you like them. This was a really difficult shot. I had to wait for almost 1 hour to get the right angle from the sun. I wanted the shadow to split the water droplet in half and I almost missed it. Another 30 seconds and it was gone.
